Lobby Groups

Lobby Groups and Their Impact.
The Dictionary of American History briefly defines lobbies as"groups of individuals acting for themselves or others who seek to influence the decisions of government officials."  You have chosen a lobby group to research.  You've discovered who they represent, what causes they support and how they lobby for change. 
Write a well thought out answer to the following the essential question: 
What is the mission of your chosen lobby group, and what impact does it have on society and the United States?

Your paragraph(s) should include:
  • Topic Sentence 
  •  3-4 body sentences (supporting arguments and textual evidence from the documents to support your augments) 
  • Concluding sentence

My Home Town

Mrs. Jaccarino's ideal town!
In the words of the immortal Bruce Springsteen:
 "Take a good look around, this is your hometown."
State aid, real estate, taxes, teachers, transportation, recreation, weather? What contributes to the quality of a town?  For this assignment you needed to explore local resources to learn about YOUR hometown and compare these to a town you might like to live in someday.

How does your ideal town compare to the town you currently live in?

Current Issues



Dress Codes:  You recently read an article from the Houston Chronicle by Elizabeth White titled, "If Dress Code Doesn't Suit Teens, School District Will."  You have also been given a copy of the Brockport High School Dress Code.  What do you think?  Formulate an opinion on dress codes.  Support your opinion with evidence from the documents provided, or from research you have found on your own.
